THIS, this and that, and THIS !!

Oh I had such plans for today.
Following a couple of super busy weeks at Nursery I had decided to take today off as the end of this week heads into another busy time of seeing all of our little pre-schoolers heading off to school.
It was just going to be a day at home for catching up with all the mundane kind of stuff but it was a day off never-the-less.
But ... whilst I really tried very hard to ignore it I had a very sore throat niggling away this weekend and then last night I definitely felt yuk.
And today I feel even more yuk.
I don't know anyone who has a cold at the moment so where the heck has mine come from ?
Its one of those horrible hot and cold, feeling a bit sick, wibbly legs ones,
so in my bed is where I am staying today.
But, here's the silver lining - I can still use my laptop in bed - yay !
And whilst not a huge lot of crafting has gone on this week I have a couple of things that just had to make it in to a post today.

Firstly ......
our little Beth headed back to Bournemouth on Friday to pick up her degree results.
All very nerve wracking .. but she did it, she absolutely nailed it ...
she got a 2.1 - HOORAY !!
Those 4 years of slogging away were so totally worth it.

This picture is of Beth on her first day at school, standing next to big sister Meg.
And from this we now have two daughters who both have degrees behind them, Meg having graduated last summer, and we could not be more proud.
Our 'little' Immi is soon to head off to Surrey to start her Midwifery degree so lots of big changes ahead for us all.

Whilst all three girls were off doing their own thing this weekend Dave and I felt that it was entirely necessary for us to celebrate anyway so we headed to our village pub,

that very conveniently is just 2 doors away,
to enjoy lunch in the sunny garden

under the shadow of the village church.

It was also a bit of an early celebration for our 27th Wedding Anniversary
 which is happening this week.
The only downside, or possibly upside, of a pub lunch is that its very difficult to summon up much energy to do anything much afterwards ....

but a little bit of gentle crochet fitted the bill perfectly,

whilst sat next to a very sleepy Itsy,
who managed to fall asleep with her tongue sticking out !

I am still really, really loving working on my garden cushion covers.
The ends have now been secured and tied in,

and I have managed to find some perfect little buttons for the cushion backs.
Its just a matter of joining fronts and backs together now ...

and then I shall post the big reveal !

BUT NOW ....
I can hardly wait to tell you .....

Look what Dave and I went to see yesterday...
that we may just have put a deposit on ...
who will be coming home with us in two weeks ....
SQUEAL !!

Meet Otto the Weimeraner,

a BFF for Lilou.

And, do you know where he comes from ...
Salisbury, where Dave and I got married in the Catherdral 27 years ago this Friday.
Full circle, fate, ... he had to be ours !

What a proud Mummy you must be...my youngest is heading off to reception this September and I will be able to watch with interest how she will develop and learn. Gorgeous pooch and snoozy cat. 2. Too bad you feel yuk today... because seeing your post, I can imagine you having plenty of reasons to feel cheerful... I hope the cold goes away quickly !
First, congratulations on your wedding anniversary ! 27 years !! Wow - in this day and age, your couple is almost a rarity... so many people divorcing..
Second, again congratulations with the new addition to your family... Otto is soooooo sweet ! Weimaraners are such pretty dogs. And as puppies, well, they can melt anyone's heart (as Otto just did with mine ;-)))) I do hope Otto will be friends with the cat (you never know with a Weimaraner, they sometimes have some "hunting genes" left in their body...)

    1. Hi Ingrid, yes I agree about the 'hunting genes', we spent a lot of time gradually introducing Itsy and Lilou, and will do the same with Otto - can never be too careful, K x

  3. Oh Kate, so sorry to hear you are feeling poorly. There's nothing worse to me than to feel poorly when the sun is shining and all you want to do is snuggle under the duvet. How proud you must be of your lovely girls. I moved my daughter to her new accommodation last week. No slobbing around at home for the hols as she has a job and didn't want to stop earning through the summer (good girl). Your cushions look lovely but I'm afraid I am just a little tinsy bit more in love with that adorable Otto. I bet you will be marking the days off the calendar until you can bring him home. He looks adorable. See no longer do I get broody for children just dogs but I'm still stopping at 4.... I hope you have a lovely anniversary on Friday. Meanwhile I have now tried my teapigs this weekend, not seen these before but I have already been on the website and think I will be ordering some of their other ranges not just for me you understand I am already thinking as part of a gift for Christmas. Oh goodness did that C word pass my lips I do apologise must have been a slip of the tongue.

Get better soon sending you a big hug to make you feel better.

  9. Sorry to hear you're feeling poorly Kate, I hope you shake it off soon. Your girls look so sweet all ready for school and here they are grown up and graduated - where does the time go? My own two girls are also at uni but the endless sewing in of name tags to uniform seems like only yesterday. Itsy looks adorable with her tongue sticking out - had she been to the pub too? Looking forward to seeing your garden cushions and to seeing more pics of little Otto! I'm searching for a new baby myself at the moment. Congratulations and best wishes on your 27th wedding anniversary on Friday.

    1. Oh yes I remember those name tapes well Jane ! And however many you sewed on there was always still something that needed to be named. In some ways it seems like yesterday - but when I look at the three of them now you realise how many years have gone by. Good luck with the puppy hunting - how exciting ! K x
