Happy Monday ...

This is pretty much what my Monday is looking like today ...
... Snoozy and chilled and full of tea
Nursery is shut for a whole week.
Sometimes we just all need a break !
Other than for another week between Christmas and New Year this
is the only time we close completely.
Its the time of year when we get the decorators in for a bit of smartening
up and any other wear and tear is sorted out.
Even though it's only a week it's good for everyone to take some time out and in a way
it finishes off one year before we have a new intake of littlies after the Summer holidays.
We've said goodbye to a lot of our big pre-schoolers in the last few weeks and
this is always bittersweet - lovely to see them head off to big school,
ready for everything we have prepared them for, but also hard to say goodbye as so
many of them have been with us since they were very little babies.
These truly b♥e♥a u♥t♥i♥f♥u♥l flowers were given to me at work at the end of last week ,
and came with a very special hug and a kiss from one of our little leavers.
I take a big sigh every time I walk into the kitchen - they are quite delicious.
And so ... my plans for the week ?
Not an awful lot if I'm completely honest.

With a little help from Itsy I have finally managed to start the border on my blanket.
This is my most favourite bit of all,
in fact when I thought about it I realised I could actually write a whole post just on borders,
so that's exactly what I shall do when I have put some pictures together.

This one is going to be quite simple ,
kind of less is more .

Not quite there just yet but I'm very pleased with it so far.
Happy Monday to you all out there,
hope you're having a good one too.

  1. Lovely post as always Kate! X I hope you enjoy your week off! I look forward to seeing the finished blanket x

    1. Thank you Helen, I'm definitely nearly there with the blanket now. K x

  2. Hi Kate, Oh how I adore your blog and all the lovely blankets you make and share. What yarn did you use on this one and is it all singe crochet?

    1. Hi Pamela, ahh thank you for your lovely words ! The wool I used for the blanket is Stylecraft Alpaca DK. I've been really pleased with how its worked up, its so lovely and soft ( and a good price too ! ) The stitch is DC, UK stitch, or SC, US stitch. Very, very simple and very therapeutic to do. When I've finished it I'll write up the pattern on my side-bar. K x

  3. Enjoy your week, Kate. It sounds like you have some nice, relaxing plans for yourself. :)

  4. Enjoy your week off ! Lots of crocheting time ahead ;-)))) !

  5. Oh I love that photo with the cat, the crochet and the beautiful lamp light. So cosy, I want to curl up there too. Enjoy your break, it is very well deserved. The blanket is gorgeous, exactly the kind of thing I love. CJ xx

    1. Thank you CJ, Itsy certainly made herself very comfortable and didn't budge for quite some time ! K x

  6. Your grey blanket looks lovely and it seems to have passed Itsy's snuggle up and get comfy test! Have a lovely, relaxing, crochet-filled week Kate.
    Jane xx

  7. Oh how nice a whole week off. I hope you are enjoying yourself and recharging your batteries ready for the forthcoming year. You must have real mixed emotions as your bigguns leave and you get ready to take on your next influx of littlies. Glad to see you've managed find a minder for your blanket I bet Itsy keeps Otto in check.

  8. I hope that you are enjoying your week Kate! I love the little bow on your blanket, such a pretty and very Kate touch! xx

  9. Loving the simplicity of the white trim against grey on the blanket - just right.
Lovely flowers, it must be a wrench at the end of every year to say goodbye to the little ones moving on, but then comes the fun of the new children I guess.
Lovely last few posts, I've enjoyed catching up with puppy and crochet even if I havent commented.
Hope you enjoy your week off Kate, and have plenty of puppy fun!
    Gill xx

  10. Love the 'Monday' picture! Your crochet is beautiful, and I agree the borders really finish off the design of the whole the ones you make, and the little bow here is very sweet. I hope you have a relaxing time and are all ready for the new littlies to arrive :)
    Happy weekend.
    Helen xox
