Cosy ....

After including some little egg cosies in my last post I had a request from Annie at Knitsofacto asking if I had a pattern for them.
Well I didn't .....
but by the time I got home from work on Friday I was positively
chomping at the bit to put one together.
After a quick rummage in the wool drawers I found some pretty pastel pink Sublime DK,

and a lovely muted green too.
I grabbed an egg from the kitchen to be my model and I was off...

Cast on 32 stitches
Rows 1, 2 and 3: K2, P2, K2. P2 to end of row, to make the rib.
Rows 4 to 12: One row K, one row purl to make stocking stitch.
Row 13: Cast off.
Sew up the side seam and along the top.

Add pom-poms either side.
If you don't have a handy pom-pom maker try using a fork.
I wrapped the wool around 60 times,
tied the loops tightly together through the middle prong with a long piece of wool,

carefully slid the loops off the fork
and cut the loops up each side.
Trim the pom-pom if needed.
Sew the pom-poms on to the corners of the cosy..
And that's it ... its that simple !

How cute are they !

And then I got a little carried away the next day because when I was shopping I saw a beautiful bunch of hyacinths and tulips that completely matched the colours
and .... foil wrapped eggs as well.
And so then followed one Easter photo shoot.

Whilst I was working away keeping the eggs cosy I suddenly realised that I hadn't got round to posting the results of the other wrap I had made from the JuJu Loops pattern book.

I made it with Millamia wool and to get the sizing right I ended up
working with three strands of the wool.

It was a really lovely pattern to work on and I have never made, or even worn ,
anything quite like it before.
It just kind of hugs you !

I think this is quite possibly the cosiest thing I have ever worn.
The final bit of cosiness has been getting our caravan ready for its first trip out this year.
Whilst the weather this weekend has been beautiful I don't think the same can be said for what's
coming in the next couple of days !
But that's ok - it will be good to get away anyway.

Sofa's ready for lounging ... and knitting / crocheting...

and the beds ready for jumping on !
Just before I go...
very excitingly I now have a Just Pootling Facebook page.
If you would like to Follow Me on Facebook you will see a link
to my page on the right hand sidebar of my Blog.
Once at the page, click Like and you will be notified of any new postings.

Have a lovely week.

  1. I love everything in this post. Your caravan is adorable! It's like the caravan on my fantasies with all the handmade things, it's exactly how I would want to decorate mine if I ever have one. The egg cozies and shrug are really nice too. I love the fork trick, thanks for sharing! Have a good day.

    1. Thank you MItzi. I must admit I'm looking forward to a couple of days of not doing an awful lot. Sadly can't take Lilou with us though as we are heading new Forest way and we're a bit wary of all we have heard about the Alabama Foot outbreak.

  11. Hello! Told you I'd visit (apologies for the delay, I've finally got some quiet catching-up time)... Wow, you're talented at knitting. The wrap is lovely and puts my recently-made one (double rib rectangle, basically) to shame!
Think I could just about manage the egg cosies though...

  13. It's really interesting to see how you have altered your van.We have one with identical layout, it's only 3 years old but very bland in colour. I've added some colour by crocheting cushion covers but our seat cover fabric make it hard to do very much. I do wonder who puts the colour schemes together for caravans as in my opinion they leave alot to be desired.

    1. Hi Anne
Yes, I couldn't agree more about caravan designers and their rather questionable use of patterns and colours ! When we got ours I was determined to put my own stamp on it, so used the existing curtains as a template to make some more and the sofa's are just covered with two large throws that I got from John Lewis. It really didn't take much work but I now feel that our caravan has a bit more personality. K x

  14. I want a hat like those egg cosies! I'm going to learn to knit later this year, so I will plan on making those for next Easter...of course I'll have to follow suit with the flowers and foil eggs, too...and that wrap is just too gorgeous and snuggly! Lovely cosy post! Chrissie x

  16. Your egg warmers are só funny and cute !! Good idea of using a fork to make those mini pompons, I'm going to remember that ! (Since I always loose that little plasticky pompon-maker....)
Your wrap is gorgeous - I'm jealous (am not such a good knitter...) !

  17. That wrap! I absolutely love it, Kate!!! I'm not a great one for swathes of shawl flopping around (too clumsy I think) so your wrap is just perfection.

I did chuckle about your Easter shoot - I do just the same! xx

  21. Hi Kate, hope you don't mind but I have purchased enough Clarke and Clarke red spotty fabric to make new curtains for our fixed bed end of our caravan and to recover the headboard. Can't wait to get going. Seems a shame to be doing it to a 4 year old van but I do think caravan designers need to get their act together when it comes to caravan upholstery most of it leaves a lot to be desired. Anne xx
