Five Autumn Happies ...

Not a lot going on round at ours lately, but it's the little things that matter isn't it,
and these are the ones that have made me happy this weekend....

Finding the perfect inspiration for my next blanket as I was flicking through the latest copy of
Country Homes and Interiors ...
 
 
I'll just zoom in  a bit so you can see what I mean....

 
.... there it is,
the scrumptious blanket at the bottom of the pile.
How could I not fall in love with it when it has so many pom-poms to finish it off !

Deciding on the perfect Autumny colour to make the blanket in -
its going to be BIG and its got to be SNUGGLY.
 
 
♥
 
Enjoying sitting making one pom-pom after another,



and watching the pile grow.

Spending a couple of hours hooking up a few poppies for family and friends,
 

 
 
all given with a reminder not to forget to put some money in
The British Legion Poppy money tin.

I wish I could somehow send you the smell,
its currently filling my kitchen,

    Ooh Kate when I saw that first photo I knew exactly which blanket you were talking about and I wasn't wrong. I knew it would have to be the one with the pompoms, especially in your favourite colour grey. So you can imagine how surprised I was when I saw the colour you had chosen you do like to keep us on our toes don't you. I have just about finished the blanket I have been making for a friends 50th birthday so will reveal all next week so as not to spoil the surprise. But now I'm thinking about that lovely pom pom blanket for a future project.....

    The pom pom blanket is so cute, I'm not sure I'd ever finish it though. Love the poppies, I think I could manage making a few of those :)

    Beautiful roses, it's always such a pleasure to find them at this time of year. I had a nice walk by the water on Saturday, then a browse of a book shop, both wonderful. The blanket is lovely, I know your version of it will be too. Fantastic poppies, I shall have a look at the pattern and see if I'm up to it! CJ xx

    I like the purples and greys together. The pompom edging will look great, are you using one of those pom pom makers? We have some in different sizes and they are made super quick. Your poppies look great, lovely flowers. Its amazing what is still in bloom in the garden. :)

      I love a good pompom maker too Gail - they make it so much easier, we always used to make them with two cut out cardboard rings when I was little , but these are brilliant aren't they ?

    Thought it was the Pom pom blanket you liked! Should grow fairly quickly in chunky yarn. Can you tell me what size Pom pom maker you are using please? Had my eye on one for ages but need to settle on the size and they look good!

    Oh that pom pom blanket is absolutely gorgeous! I've just bought a pom pom maker (I know, what took me so long - it's ace and so quick!) so I might have to finish a blanket off with some poms! Your crochet poppies are lovely too x

    Gorgeous happy things! That blanket is going to be stunning it really is, love all the little pom poms. I was working all weekend but was very happy when a lovely colleague brought in homemade cake!

    Gotta love a pom-pom! Wish I was such a prolific crocheter, my blanket took me about a year... I'm so slack! Took it to our local hospice today, it's far from perfect but hoping the next one will be better.

    Hi There, Crocheted poppies! How did you get hooked on making those? They are very sweet.
    Over here in NZ as you know we are making poppies to commemorate 100yrs of the ANZAC soldiers for next years tribute so when I saw what you were making I got very excited. You should check out 5000poppies.wordpress.com for more delicious poppy patterns.

    Ooops, I've seen the answer to my previous question about your blanket yarn here. It really is lovely, Kate, and the pompoms will be perfect for the edging.

    I can't believe you still have such beautiful roses in your garden, they're exquisite. If I close my eyes, I can just imagine how wonderful they smell.
