And we're off....
the first 2014 makes have taken place !
Whilst Christmas and New Year were busy and manic and full of fun the few quieter days in between were perfect for settling down and just pootling away quietly.
I had a very sudden need to make a scarf, I'm not quite sure why but it was quite
an overwhelming ' I must do this now' need.
A fair bit of trawling through Pinterest and Ravelry took place and whilst I so love all the beautiful patterned and lacier scarves, at the end of the day plain and simple is more me.
This was the final choice, from Fiber Flux..Adventures in Stitching and even the colours were what I would have chosen.

I love it because it's quite little and lightweight and keeps me snuggled and warm without
making me feel like a Michelin man.

My head is now full of all the other colours I'd like to make it in.

The next make was a little bit out there, but nevertheless a 'much needed ' item.
One of my daughters was given a Cake Pop set for Christmas, that looks like this,
and is used for making tiny little lollipop cakes.
Once made they are best displayed on a stand, so after a very small amount of arm twisting the man bit of the job was completed ( finding a bit of wood in the garage and drilling lots of little holes )
and the fun could begin...
... with a little painting, and a few spots to finish ...
ta-dah, one cakepop stand !
And here , in all their magnificence, is the first batch of cakepops.
Now I absolutely hold my hands up here as I had no part in this amazing cooking session,
that was entirely down to Beth and Matt.
Beth has a cooking blog and I'm sure a post will be following before too long, but in the meantime they get their little premiere right here !

The blanket of many starts and stops still continues, sooooooo many ends to finish off that I took Jules top tip and decided to enclose them all in an overlapping border.
Definitely on the home run now.
Next planned make is a toque
( that's a beanie to you and me, but toque sounds so much more intriguing ! )
Again this was a pattern found on Ravelry from Kim Mills of HomesteadMommy.
Its going to be super chunky and hopefully super warm.

The cake pops are really impressive, and lucky you having a handy man about the place! The scarf is lovely, I know exactly what you mean about the Michelin man factor, I always try to avoid it as well.

DeleteNo I didn't get that, but I remembered you saying that the pattern you used was worked as a rectangle and I managed to find a similar pattern on Ravelry.

That scarf looks so pretty, I can see you whipping up a few of them in colours to suit your mood! The blanket is absolutely awesome, I can't wait to see it finished! Now I'm off to grab something sweet - the sight of those scrumptious cake pops has made me rather peckish... Chrissie x

My main crafting love is crochet and I have been making hand made clothes for my baby grandson who is now just 3 months old.

I like the scarf Kate, it's lovely and I especially like the white edging down one side. What an ingenious idea with the yarn ends on your blanket - I always start a project with the intention of sewing them in as I go, but it never happens and I end up with yarn-end fatigue! Cake pops look delicious. Have a good week.
